Rambling on: workings of an idle mind...

workings of an idle mind...

Summers in the US are actually quite exhilarating..

There is something magical...They have this feeling of "Saturday .....in the park, I think it was the fourth of july....people dancing blah blah ...man selling ice cream singing italian song" :)

Oh crap...my brain retains so much musical trivia..it is sickening

i think ...living in the US...my brain was just absorbing all the sound waves of the radio...."they built this city with..."...oh hell..there I go again...

like this episode of jeopardy....I told my wife that the crappy 80's song "Nothing's gonna stop us now" (by the STARSHIP featured in the 84 hit the mannequin which BTW features "Sex and the City" trash queen kim katral (sp)) is actually the lady of the JEFFERSON AIRPLANE (or was it AEROPLANE...ie.,. )..whose credits.. include the very psychedelic "white rabbit" and "don't you need somebody to love"...thank god she could relate..

I shared this long time ago on the blog or maybe I am just dreaming ......but I have these vivid flashback kinda thingies...that in my last janam I assumed the body of a cowboy and for the life of me...i cannot take this image our of my head...this paul newman-ish character walking on the sidewalks in Brooklyn...

I have never really spent any quality time in NYC so why what do these images mean...

Probably I watched some movie are very long time ago...these images are in black and white so the evil workings of an idle mind....

or just a subconscious desire to feel and breathe the same air....my recurring dream is about getting late to class for the finals and the professor pointing to me with his fingers that i did not have anything on

.....this one takes the cake does'nt it.....

So I don't check in for a few days and look what happens;Naveed goes in a tailspin, lands smack back in the 70s, and compiles this list of what I will delicately refer to as 'regrettable' music. Please, this music was made when you were a toddler probably,I do so despair of bringing you into the current century :)
You lost me with the KIm someone but I can set you straight on the band's names Jefferson Airplane - Jefferson Starship - Starship - Jefferson Starship
again I think, although why such a monstorosity is allowed to perpetuate, who knows? But, in a rare display of self restraint,I will say no more about them.
Ten bucks says next mentioned could be one of these bands .. REO Speedwagon, Fleetwood Mac (extra points if you guessed Rhiannon (sp.)),
and one with longer odds ..Journey (for some reason it is always tied to the Pretenders in my mind).
Oh and don't forget Heart and Blondie!!!!!!
Let's raise our Pina Coladas to the 70s...
PS - "..built this city" was recently voted the worst song EVER!

i am quite disappointed that "SUMMER OF 69" was not voted the worst song ever....damn...but you have not read my blog at all...i was the first one to admit that the QUOTE - CRAPPY 80's song UNQUOTE by STARSHIP was a clue on jeopardy....

I have never like REO Speedwagon infact...just two words to describe it - ROOT-CANAL

I think i like some of FLEETWOOD MAC but only some tracks and no Rhiannon is not on my list...I like the Stevie Nicks' pout but that just me...

Afraid as much as the Heart ladies looked good, their music was, atbest, mediocre. And was Blondie really rock-n-roll...I think that was disco....

i hope these are not your favorite because i never said that i like jefferson airplane or starship or any other flying object

I didn't say they were bands you liked either, just a prediction of where an idle mind may wander next.So how about Billy Idle? But he is so eighties, right?
Heart ladies looked good? Are you for real?
If you can't comment on a post without reading it properly, the terrorists have won!
Summer of 69? But I love Bryan Adams (it's a joke!), but you haven't lived until you've seen him perform 'Young Lust', He actually was good! Or I was in a mellow mood..
I'm going to have to pull that list of worst songs; stay tuned.

I would never allow my mind to think of billy idle/idol no matter how idle it may be (the mind that is)

heart ladies were hot when I last saw them…you are not looking at them from a man's perspective.

something about a lady with a guitar that rocks my world (eeewww is what you are thinking right? :)

bryan adam sucks the scum stuck in my toe nails that is how much he creeps me out

taking about creeping out, how about my nominations for the worst songs ever, would you like to get these from me

thanks…I knew you would say yes…:)

first is "hungry eyes" and I know it is sickening that I know the guy's name

it is eric carmen a squint-eyed beach-bum loser thing going on in the video that was played to death

the second is "I just died in your arms tonight"….i think it is by a band called cutting crew or something
some potent kiss it must have been or may be it was bad breath which is why this guy died in her arms (or even
his arms if you want to remain politically correct..)
some barry manilow songs are coming to me now…too many radio frequencies are switching in my brain.

let me compose my thoughts and will revert back with more garbage that our memories are made of…

my lord...how can they have REM and the beatles on the list....i mean of all the things "love Shiny Happy People" & "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da"?

..I am devastated...i had not even recovered my senses and i saw "Rico Suave - Gerardo"...

This is too much...i cannot take any more :)

PS - i thought you liked REM...

Ha ha ha -- the wicked witch of the west laughs in glee at the quick handiwork that has reduced you to a whimpering mess so early in the day :)
So glad you found the Beatles, was waiting with baited breath for your reaction!
Billy Idol (yes you caught my typo ,, Billy Idle is my nickname for a co-(non)worker),but I love his stuff, there is something about a guy with a sneer and all that jewellery..
Pray tell me, what am I thinking (hotties with guitar reference) ? Go on, spill the beans, no need to keep it PG.You know I won't leave you alone until you do.This sounds too perverted and delicious, right up my alley :)
There is no hope in the world that you can compose your thoughts today and get a list of songs together, just warn your wife that she'll have to drag all your pieces to bed tonight. But I will look forward to the list very soon.
Yes, I like REM but this was their mindless piece with the B52s. I understand Michael Stipes is quite ashamed of it. My kids always thought they were singing 'Chinese happy people' :)
(And have you noticed how many bands there are with numbers in their names? I’ve been making a list lately, so send me any names you can think of ,when you are capable of thinking again)
Notice, no Beck, no Cake, no Incubus, none of my favs on the list .. helloooo? Do I have good taste or what? Of course, they are not pop anyway ;)
I swear, with all this rot in our heads, I wonder if there is any mind left? (no no don’t answer,we know about me already, but let me keep my illusions about you for a while yet).
I never knew that I knew this much junk.
Please hold the Barry Manilow nominations for now, your day may be done but I still have to put in quite a bit of serious work yet!
(Maybe I was thinking of Heart daughters, will have to check on that one too)

1. Ignore my remarks about what I am thinking. I misread yours and got all excited about getting some good dirt on you! It was just a case of seeing a comma where one did not exist :(
2. You owe me big for mentioning the 'died in your arms' song; yes,of course,I pulled up the video on the net and now am cursing you :)
I remember hungry eyes , didn't Patrick Swayze dance to it?
3. A band that should have been mentioned earlier 'Air Supply'
4. My list of some of my hated songs
Lady in Red (They play it often as a bride entrance song at Pakistani weddings - Really)
That Whitney Houston song - you know the one - love yoouuuu or something, that just climaxes immediately and then stays there
That Celine Dione song (the movie one)
Modern girl or woman or something by Sheena Easton
Anything from Hanson
Most things from the Eagles, also from Elton John
Okay enough now, barf bag advisory in full effect

your wicked witch routine is fun...reminds me of the aslam pervez evil laugh when he goes after the docile nisho in old pakistani movies...does this ring a bell?

indeed the ladies with guitars seem delicious but i only enjoy the delightfully enjoyable part of their music and yes their appearance makes the music a little more interesting....i mean they are awesome as independant musicians...dont think i would enjoy treating them as sex toys or anything...kinky is not part of my game...

"Chinese happy people" :)...just love this one...:)

Heart daughters? ......grrrrrrrr yummmmm

Kinky is not part of your game? ,oh no,You have finally disappointed me :)
Can't stand the Eagles' guy's voice (Don Henley or someone?),I do like some of their stuff.
Nisho? very distant bell .. can't really recall.
I was thinking of Wilson-Philips as Heart daughters, sorry, like I said, too much rot in the mind. Did find a hilarious picture of Heart last night, might email you a link as payback for the 'died' song.
Still waiting for your list, in the meantime, I'll look for another of your posts to (not) read and attack!
Imagine how much hatred is aroused by these two words "My Sharona"...
This has been too much fun :)
Still thinking of other songs, so it is not over yet
Remember 'all the girls..' Willie Nelson and iglesias?
I'm making myself sick now :)
And all this because you enjoyed summers in the US???

5:22 PM
Blogger Deevaan said...

i thought Wilson-Philips were the off-spring of the breach boys...yes, they have had their share of crap...

"My Sharona"...yes these are the songs that can be nominated on the list because some of the people are blasting some songs because of their anti-pop stand...but if you carefully go through the list, the most genuine horrid songs are the ones which suck as far as lyrics are concerned and on that yardstick "My Sharona" features on top.

hey you can't blame me for enjoying my summers listening to the radio because all the soft pop stations were the ones playing crap 24x7 which is why Chicago which i quoted in my blog features (i.e., Saturday in the park) is featured so prominently.

i want to come up with the list that does not feature any of the tracks already listed on the website..you know like let me refresh your memory...tracks like "I JUST DIED IN YOUR ARMS TONIGHT" :) yes, this is like someone piercing their finger nails on a black board or a wall

BTW, i know you do (NOT) read my blogs so intently but did you, by any chance, check out http://www.geocities.com/bradreviews/index.html

you will not forgive me for this awsome sight...check out incubus reviews too...since i do not know their music (yet) let me know what you think of these reviews...i find it to be hilarious...profanity being my favorite subject as this is related to evolution of language per se....

please read "breach boys" as beach boys & "awsome sight" as awsome site...one of those really...

Yes,you're right about wilson-philips.It's just the wilson name that had me confused.
I just thought of one more song - Sherry Baby...
I very quickly learned to turn to the hard rock stations, just a few months of Blondie and the Bee-gees did it.
I'll go read the reviews. This whole subject has me so excited that I am at the library to check out the Dave Barry book of bad songs, haven't read it in a while.
What do you mean you are still not familiar with Incubus music? Hurry up and go buy 'Morning View'(pretty sure the KHI bazaars have it).
Profanity as an art form .. of course :)
Well, there is no time to read any other post from you then, or to add anything to my blog ..
Do you get VH1? We watched this show (list of the worst songs)and it was enormous fun.

Okay, I quickly read his Incubus review.Forget the comparisons with the Chile peppers, I hate them! He could compare them with Faith no more to better effect, at least morning view album. And, he doesn't even have Fungus Amongus .. so how can I take him seriously? Even I have all four albums! But,I do think he is picking up many of the good songs that I like too. But trashing Megalomaniac? he can just get lost.
BB as pretty boy? maybe I'm too old, but he was about 10 feet away from me, minus shirt, and he was scratching his head! (eeewww) all I wanted to say was, BRANDON TAKE A SHOWER AND WASH YOUR HAIR!Rather feral looking actually.

Okay, this is my 59th comment of the day, or close to it.First, I've realized something, You are evil :) for pointing out that review link to me ,knowing full well how obsessive I can be!
So I spent quite a bit of time this evening reading his stuff. He was pretty accurate on the White Stripes (although I do think Meg can drum),I know I recommended them to you :)He was perfect on Creed (blech), so right about U2(the band we hate and love)and now I have to listen to Tenacious D and System of A Down (how embarrassing to admit that I actually have these:)and then compare my review with his on these two.
And, he actually likes Incubus, even though has this freaky dislike of BB.
I laughed at his review of Live's throwing copper (because I just recommended that to you too),I used to dislike 'lighning crashes' too until I saw Live perform that song live.I admit it is weird.
Oh well, I wonder if any of this makes sense to you.
And I am never going to read any of your posts again , this one really does take the cake :)what a lot of time I have spent here.

you are welcome :) i knew you would enjoy BRAD's reviews. We should all be thankful that this guy is back. He was gone for the last 6 months. His latest entry on Police is hilarious...When the kids were gone for summer, i did spend a lot time on this site...there are others like this one but this guy is just too good....a bit like me...:)
