CDs containing sufi music
have blogged about pathanay khan in the past...other cd's available in the market include the ones released by abida parveen covering baba bullay shah, shah hussain, khwaja ghulam farid….
then there are couple of cd's by zahida parveen, ustaad salamat ali khan and tufail niazi.....quality of production is impressive
abida is an artiste that i have listened to most...i credit her with whatever little knowledge of sufi poetry that i have.......in the shah hussain cd, she has done a brilliant job and this is the cd i like the most...the compositions are traditional and she sounds great
mairaa dil, ranjhan raval mangay (my heart, it yearns for love).....(http://www.apnaorg.com/music/abida/) is the first track on the cd and blows you away with the complete mastery of the artform....if she remains within the sur (and does not go ballistic on you like she does live performances), the performance is spell-binding....
she can sing a shopping list, one reviewer has said of her, and have an audience weeping

SAJ, for me...blogs contain thoughts when i ramble on about things that matter...blogs are like documenting life around me..precious moments captured in cyberspace..today there is a clear blue sky after two days of overcast weather and it felt like the rain had washed away the smog and this weather would inspire a blog, surely :) some of it is also catharsis....i had some challenges on the personal front and writing helps...there is some underlying demographic factors of blogging..atleast in pakistan.....somethings that i have blogged about have generated responses from indian bloggers who have shared their ideas on email or in the form of responses to my blogs which i enjoy....so as you can see from the several comments that you have already received...poeple blog for all sorts of reasons....
oh crud,of course I misplaced my list and forgot all about P. Khan. I guess on the next trip then - homeward bound now

I'm half way home. Did run and buy one P.Khan at the airport. I'm afraid though, you may have been castin perals before swine. Oh well, I'll give it a shot. And your days of peace are so over.
