down memory lane

a magical voice, fantastic movie (mausam), quite watchable despite being indian :) and gulzar's stamp all over the place taking inspiration from ghalib making it worth your while - and a track that has followed me constantly over the last several years

dil dhonta hai
phir vohee
fursat kay raat din

baythay rahain tasawar-e-janaan keeyay hoyay

aur jaroon kee
narm dhoop aur
aangan main lait kar

aankhoon par khainch kar tairay
aanchal kay sayaay ko
oondhay paray rahain kabhee
karvat leeyay hoyay

ya garmee-oon kee raat jo
purva-ee-aan chalain
thandee sufaid chadaroon peh
jagain dayr tak
taroon ko daikhtay rain
chat par paray hoyay

barfeelee
sardeeyoon main
kissee bhee paha par
vadee main
goonjtee hoee
khamooshee-aan sunain
aankhoon main
bheegay bheegay say
lamhay leeyay hoyay

the magnificent bhupinder at his best

one song done is two different styles in the movie, the slower version my favorite

a bad week

i have been through really bad days lately

lot of firefighting that at times seems uncontrollable, have been having nightmares with some office situations being played out in my brain and have been waking up sweating at 5am every day

things were never this impossible

today finally some good news, the difference a day makes

what i feel to do right now is pour myself a stiff one and listen to roger waters sing to me "if you are alone i'll come home"

As I reach for a peach
Slide a rind down behind
The sofa in San Tropez.
Breakin' a stick
with a brick on the sand.
Ridin' a wave
In the wake of an old sedan.

Sleepin' alone in the
Drone of the darkness,
Scratched by the sand that
Fell from my love,
Deep in my dreams and I
Still hear her callin'
"If you're alone,
I'll come home."

Backward and homebound,
The pigeon, the dove,
Gone with the wind
And the rain, on an airplane.
Owning a home
With no silver spoon,
I'm drinking champagne
Like a good tycoon.

Sooner than wait for
A break in the weather,
I'll gather my far-flung
Thoughts together.
Speeding away
On the wind to a new day.
And if you're alone
I'll come home.

And I pause for a while
By a country style
And listen to the things they say.
Diggin' for gold
With a hoe in my hand.
Open a book
Take a look at the way things stand.

And you're leading me down
To the place by the sea.
I hear your soft voice
Calling to me.
Making a date for
Later by phone
And if you're alone
I'll come home.
